Loved the book- I thought the casting was spot on -  However  the movie just about killed it for me.  I saw it last night and have been trying to forget about it ever since.  I went into it KNOWING that everything in the book could not be captured and translated   OK  here is where it’s at for me – I will likely go see it again to see if it was really as bad as I thought – also I want to support the making of future movies in the saga but want to do what I can to ENCOURAGE that they do a better job on the next ones!  All of my  friends felt this about the movie:  #1)  it was like reading page 1 then skipping to page 150 than going back to page 75… Know what I mean?  They took everything out of context and rushed through the entire thing.  #2) They added scenes that never happened AND also did zero for adding anything to the storyline. #3)  They left out SO MUCH of the key dialog out and therefore anticipation for this building romance felt flat. It really irked me that they made changes that made NO sense and had NO purpose and will like have difficulty explaining in the future.  (Bella cooked for her Dad at home nearly every night -NOT EATING OUT- thus showing her nurturing role with Charlie) Little stupid changes that made no sense – having the Cullens cook her dinner????? and cut out the whole Carlisle/Volturi history????   I feel the screenwriter and director both failed miserably – UNLESS  the best of twilight was left on the cutting room floor of the editing room.
I just thought of a way that the studio, screenwriter and director can redeem themselves for what I felt was a rushed, over simplified presentation of the Bella & Edward love story  – So many things were missing (my favorites -when they kiss and she faints and then when they get to the baseball game and Edward has to “tamper with her memory” before they run to the clearing and he “dazzles” her then kisses her and she gets out of hand) – Here is where they can make it right:  In the beginning of New Moon where Bella reflects back on “the best summer anyone ever had” with Edward…right at that point they could introduce flashbacks with her voice over showing us all the scenes that should have been in the movie but weren’t. also they need to put in the history of Carlisle and the volturi -kind of important to know in the second film- I’m still peeved about the bedroom kiss scene- well into the 3rd book Edward still wouldn’t let Bella take her shirt off!
